Car Auctions

August 25th, 2008

Since you are visiting this site and possibly interested in joining one of our Car Bargain Programs, we wanted to provide some additional background in your research. Car auctions are some of the best ways to acquire new or used cars at great prices and save thousands of dollars.  Car auctions are a lot of fun if you know what to expect. Many people attend just to see the selling prices for used cars, but it is also an excellent way to meet other dealers and negotiate car bargains.

Car auctions are making it easier than ever for consumers to get into the car of their dreams. Since there is no fixed price, you can get a used car at any price as long as you are the highest bidder and you have met the minimum bid amount. Like most, you probably have luxury taste, but live on an economy budget. Car auctions are well known for having more affordable prices than buying from a dealer. Depending on the car auction you attend, purchasing a quality used car for as much as 50-90% off retail is possible. As important, most of these auctioned cars are repossessed cars and are newer models with low mileage that are in great condition. Often you will find very high end luxury cars being auctioned off that are repossessed cars from the U.S. Marshall’s Office. So be prepared to see all makes and models when you attend!

So how does a car auction work?

Cars are typically arranged in different areas of the car auction site and auctions are held simultaneously with between two and six vehicles auctioned in each area. Usually it takes less than a minute for a car to be sold once the bidding starts. So, if you are interested in a vehicle, do your research ahead of time and be prepared to act fast! Our recommendation is you attend several car auctions, before you intend to purchase a used car, so you get a feel of each car auction. You will get a list of the cars being sold ahead of time so knowing what model used car you are considering will help you get to the right area of the car auction site. Each auction site has its own personality and even that changes from day to day. There are a lot of other variables you will need to consider as you visit car auction sites. As you visit, you will find some vehicles sell for much higher prices on some days and much lower on others. The car auction sites are trying to get the most for their used cars, so like any good business person, they will start their bidding based variables such as the weather that day, how many buyers are in attendance, the season of the year, or even the time of day for the car auction.

Car auctions are growing in popularity and the best way to find your bargain car at well below retail prices.
